Crimson Dark

story and art by David C. Simon

from David's About page:

"Crimson Dark is a Sci-Fi webcomic created by David C. Simon, updated with a new page every Monday. . . ."
"The comic is a serialised story set during a massive inter-stellar war in the 27th century, but focuses primarily on a handful of individuals caught up in the middle of the war rather than the broader details of the conflict."

Another beautifully illustrated comic with the look of Poser renders - only much better - a unique style. Fans of Joss Whedon's work (Buffy, Angel, and especially Firefly) will find a lot of things familiar here (read the artist's comments for each page). Currently being updated twice a week, there are over 280 pages in the archive, which should keep you busy for awhile if you are new to the story (I've just started Chapter 3 as I write this). Start with the Prologue or the Latest page.

Star Wars - The Old Republic Webcomic

- from Dark Horse, based on the game from BioWare and LucasArts. Nine issues so far, and released twice a month, it introduces many of the characters in the game and the story of the Old Republic that it is based on. Start with Act 1: Treaty of Coruscant. Here's a trailer for the game (which looks a lot like the comic).
